The photographs from 350 yesterday are amazing. Some made me smile, others are really poignant, like the one in a logged forest in Victoria. And the baby box turtle! So cute! They're still being added - every cycle there are more. I'm glad I made it, even for a little while.

Well, it's nice to know the event was actually impressive somewhere. The Canberra event was just depressing - pathetic turnout, and as Liz put it, overwhelmingly giving the impression that climate change is just some fringe leftie issue that could safely ignored by everyone else.

That's a pity. I get the impression that attendance wasn't overwhelmingly huge antwhere - it's just that it was happening in so many places. As you may have noticed, no one on my left-skewed flist replied the other day when I asked if anyone was going. I bumped into [info]tonori there, but that was it. I suspect it was an advertising problem as well as an apathy one.

I think it's an amazing and effective use of the internet as a political tool, though.

I heard about the Sydney event (and 350.org for the first time, actually) only a few days before the event. Well after I had made Newcastle plans =/

So, yeah, I think much of it had to do with advertising issues.

I would have loved to go. However, I'm going to have to settle with writing an assignment on the event, instead.

You're writing an assignment on it? Awesome!
